On Thursday night, a shooting incident occurred in Bagaria, under the Usthi police station area of South 24 Parganas, leading to the death of 45-year-old Budhadeb Haldar. Haldar, a resident of Chak Devi Ghosh in the Shrichanda Gram Panchayat, was shot by unidentified assailants during a dispute over land and soil business. The attack took place around 9:30 PM, and locals immediately rushed him to a nearby private hospital in a critical condition.
As his condition worsened, medical staff at the private hospital referred Haldar to Diamond Harbour Medical College for further treatment. Unfortunately, upon arrival, doctors declared him dead. The police were notified of the incident and arrived at the location shortly after. Haldar’s body was sent to the hospital for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Initial investigations have confirmed that the motive behind the shooting was linked to an ongoing land dispute involving soil business. The police have detained three individuals for questioning, though no arrests have been made yet. Authorities are working diligently to gather evidence and identify the perpetrators.
